Last weekend Cooma had a severe hailstorm which was similar to a snowstorm on the ground. Perhaps the cold temperatures have given the honeyeaters a false start
– or the winter will be earlier than usual?

The birds have probably worked out that habitat reduction burning season is almost here, so are getting in early.

For the first time in a long time I had at least 12 Yellow-faced
Honeyeaters fly through my GBS site in Kaleen. Many years ago they were
a regular visitor through the garden while on migration but then the
movements stopped and I am not sure why.
