A couple of points arising from conversations with Christine D and Chris C at the remarkably well-attended birdwatching venue of Parkwood Road this morning.
The very distant harrier watched with Chris just before I left turned out to be a Swamp Harrier, in my opinion (obvious white rump, A below). Curiously it was in the same location as the immature Spotted Harrier discussed
a few days ago, but apart from the white rump this bird has a quite different moult pattern in wing and tail. Meanwhile an adult Spotted Harrier was in view (B), making at least 3 harriers in the area, not unusual where prey is plentiful. On top of that
a juvenile Black Kite was seen flying over (C).
