We found no living Bogong moths in the caverns on Gingera in Jan 2018 where there had been countless thousands in earlier years.

They breed up in northern NSW and southern Qld before coming to the cool of the mountains to escape the heat of summer.  Given there has been a major drought event in the breeding range of these moths it is hardly surprising that so few can be found up in the mountains this summer.

Hi Elizabeth,

I stay at Perisher after the ski season, usually the last weekend of October.  Some years there are many bogongs crowding around the windows at night, last October there might have been about 4 in the whole week we were there.

Maybe they were early, or late, but hardly any when some years there are loads of them.

What about bogong moths this year? None seen here before Christmas, and no complaints from Parliament House.  Has anyone been to the mountains and seen them under the over hanging rocks ?
