Koels were extremely active this morning around Kangaroo Close (Ginninderra Creek at Percival Hill). They were active in the trees between the houses and the creek and also in the street trees.  This is the usual carry-on here, two, possibly three males and two females. Males wirra wirra and pursue the females who play hard to get and fly off to hide in the leafy parts of a different tree with their usual loud screeches. Males also try to drive off the other male or males – hard to tell how many but calls from different directions. Not so many RWBirds today but no evidence of RWB nests either, not this side of Percival Hill. Probably nests up  there though, usually are.
