This morning I was watching a family of Willie Wagtails at Orroral Valley (down the hill from the Nursery Swamp track carpark), when I heard a call that didn't belong. It was coming from large-ish honeyeater in silhouette  in a dead tree - sun right behind it, I could see no detail at all. It took off and flew straight across the valley. The call - spiny-cheeked honeyeater!  With no photo, no real description, I have not included bird in my eBird list, but I was sure about the call...  If you venture out that way keep eyes and ears open.

Brush Cuckoos calling in several places, including a couple at Orroral Picnic  Area, a Shining Bronze Cuckoo at the Apollo Rd intersection, and a Horsfields Bronze Cuckoo at Glendale Depot. Very quiet Fuscous Honeyeaters near the gate at the Depot, a reliable spot for them. Sacred Kingfishers nesting at the Depot too, in usual tree. Male and female juvenile Scarlet Robins at Orroral Valley, also a pair of Brown Falcons.
