Well-picked-up and what an interesting breeding record for the arboretum. The
species is known to favour gravel roads and the like for nesting. (I think
there might be 2 eggs in the photo.)

For the past couple of weeks we've been seeing Black-fronted Dotterels at
approximately the same location each time we cycle Forest Drive around the
Dairy Farmer Hill loop at the arboretum. After taking a camera with a decently
long zoom with us this morning, the photos show that the birds are sitting on
an egg laid within about half a metre of the bitumen surface of Forest Drive.
