As many of you would know the Acanthisittidae (New Zealand Wrens) are a basal clade of the passerine birds; there are these and the rest of the passerines.
They have not had a good time since humans got to their habitat, with only two species remaining. I recently managed to photograph both these tiny species in their natural habitat, under difficult conditions. A very unique group of Australasian birds.
