Hi All,

 

A couple of weeks ago we announced that we had caught a Latham’s Snipe at Jerra Wetlands with a geolocator we put on it last season. I am pleased to now be able to provide a map of its migration. It appears to have gone to Russia as well as Japan. For information and the map go to:

Thanks to everyone involved – we are obviously extremely pleased with this outcome.

 

Next steps – some more catches and satellite tracking this January (6 devices), National and ACT Snipe surveys and hopefully catch another geolocator bird. We will then reflect on what we have achieved, write up the data and see where we need to go with the project from there. We are getting a great bank of knowledge on habitat use, site loyalty and the behaviour of what has long been a very cryptic little bird.
