"It would look to be totally against the usual principles of ANBG"

They advertise that several areas are available for hire on their Website including the Eucalypt Lawn for concerts.

Also it seems that this idea came into effect in 1980. I also note on this page they do not mention Birds at all, i would have thought they would?

And take this with a grain of salt but a List from hours before the event contained 13 species and a List the day after contained 29 species, looks like the music bought the birds in :) Maybe it was the Fairy-wrens and Scrubwrens with all that bling doing the boogie on a branch nearby :)

I didn't attend ANBG yesterday but from this it seems to be entirely a commercial undertaking - and the style of music listed would suggest 'extremely loud' could be an understatement.  It would look to be totally against the usual principles of ANBG- unless they have been amended to include "do anything that raises a $".

On Saturday 24-November-2018 from 13:00 to 21:00, an outdoor music concert (Carl Cox, DJ) was held on the main lawns at the Botanic Gardens. The music was extremely loud. Does anyone know how these events are approved? How could this possibly seen to be in keeping with the values of the gardens? How could it be seen as something that could only be held in the gardens? I fear for the impact that it had on the birdlife.  ... Richard
