Hi John

Identifying eucalypts from a small photograph of a large tree is fraught. Descriptions of buds and fruit would help greatly. But from the grey bark on the tree in your photograph, supplemented with my memory of a walk along Kellys Lane earlier this year, I venture that the species to which you are referring is Eucalyptus bridgesiana, Apple Box.

This species is reasonably common in the ACT and adjacent areas, both in grassy woodland formations or flatter country, and in some valleys and on rockier slopes (such as the Naas Valley in Namadgi NP).

Regards

Steve

I was at Kelly Lane this morning, admiring the magnificent eucalyptus (though the birds were a bit few and far between). Could someone tell me what species they are (most of those along the road and in the paddocks look to be the same sp), photo attached.
