sixty-eight currently recognized eagle species.
But this is a diverse lot. At a quick look the first other book I look at has the same number. So that is comforting. The curious caption though is this bit.

Well of course they are the same shape and about that
the two differ greatly in plumage it really is just colour. Something often occurring
in eagles………
