Saturday:  At the Community Organic Gardening site, Kingston, at 4pm.  About 80 SCCs flying around and perching in the trees near the playground in Telopea Park.  They tended to use one large euc just to the west of the playground (‘tree X’ ). Around 4.35 more groups began to fly in.  At 4.45 I estimated about 400 birds.  At that point most of them (250-300) took flight and settled on the Telopea School oval to ‘ feed’.  This looked more like a pre-roosting ritual, as some birds were clearly playing rather than feeding.  Just before 5 they took flight again and perched in trees along most of the length of Telopea Park.  They gradually moved back to the playground area and coalesced in tree X and its immediate vicinity.  No corellas were seen or heard.

Sunday:  At 4.10pm I scouted around Narrabundah Primary School.  Groups of SCCs to a total of about 100 were feeding on nature strips.  About a dozen Little Corellas were mixed in.  3 SCCs had obvious signs of the beak and feather ailment.  After 4.30 they flew singly and in small groups into the eucs between Kootara Cr and the oval, gradually concentrating in the 3-4 trees nearest to the school.  About 4.45 some began to fly 170m across to the stand of E viminalis near walkway/Keira St.  Over the next 20 mins birds flew between the 2 roosting sites.  Not possible to count birds in the dense E viminalis or keep track of the comings and goings.  At 5.20 I would have estimated about 120 birds in each site.  However on checking the Kootara Cr eucs in near darkness I concluded there were less than 10 birds left there (including a beak and feather victim).  I conclude there were 140-180 birds concentrated and concealed in the dense E. Viminalis by the walkway.   No corellas were seen or heard among the roosting birds.

I have an email problem in my main desktop.  I cannot open Office Outlook 2010.  It is in a ‘ Processing’ loop.   If I install a new version of Office Outlook will i lose my historic email data files ?  On the old laptop I am now using I have access to current emails but only have a small number of my old files.

Ryu, I surveyed the Belconnen Golf Course on Saturday evening. I arrived on-site at 16:45 by which time there was quite a large number feeding on the fairways. All birds came in from the east, that is from the Holt/Macgregor suburbs. All movement ceased by 17:10. I left the area at 17:20. I counted 346 Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and no Corellas. This count fitted in well with the 376 I counted on 2 July. The roost site is in Blue Gums.

This evening I covered the site at Harper Street, Macgregor. I arrived at 16:15 and left at 17:30. I covered the area between the two bridges over Ginninderra Creek and no SCC were seen going to roost. The few birds I did see were all heading towards the Belconnen Golf Course site. No Corellas were seen or heard.
