That comes down to a similar issue to the discussion last week about group sizes for the Black-fronted Dotterel and use of words. Yes that many
choughs together
is unusual. Maybe quite unusual but not very unusual. Whatever those distinctions mean. With a lot of data about flock sizes, that could be given a statistical description. It is among the higher end of flock sizes. It could of course be a temporary joining
of 2 or 3 flocks.

My daughter, Mary, reports that last week she saw a flock of 35 – 40 choughs together in a eucalypt in Barada Crescent, Aranda. I’ve never seen so many at once. Is it unusual?
