As is clear from my summary of the 2016-2017 Koel season in the latest issue of CBN, it should not be a surprise to still hear Koels calling in March, particularly in the first half.
There were also still 5 new fledglings/juveniles reported for this month up to 22 March 2017.
This provides me an opportunity to again ask for reports of any late fledglings/juveniles. Apart from Diana’s below the latest fledgling I’m aware of this season was a new one I found in Rivett on 25 February, last seen on 1 March.
So if you do observe any from now on, or indeed if you have observed fledglings earlier in the season for which you haven’t as yet provided details to me, could you please do so directly to me by E-mail?
I’m also interested in any other interesting adult Koel observations you may have made this season.
Many thanks
Jack Holland

Yes, at7am today in a pinoak on Carnegie, as half the sun glowed above the eastern horizon and 100 yodelling corellas flew to the south-east over Rocky Knob,
joined by a dozen gang-gangs having completed their early morning gratings

Koels are still calling here in Carnegie Cres -early morning and evening...though less
raucous and insistent and late (?) K.fledgling found begging in Meehan Gdn followed
by RWBs 2 days ago & again this morning.
