Good point. I wonder whether any other birds can do that. I suspect the big
albatross could......... In most birds the lower beak is fused bone, which
would not allow it.

It was not until I studied a series of images taken at Kelly's recently that I
realized that Australian Pelicans have the ability to hinge their lower beaks
outwards as well as downwards.
