Mark and chat line subscribers,
This is a species in which I have had an interest for many years and have
published a number of papers in CBN, including a joint paper with Philip
Veerman about the spread of this species through the Canberra suburbs (CBN,
25, p49 (2000))
I updated the further spread several times up to about 2003, and since then
had noted its apparent spread throughout Belconnen.
However, I'm not clear about whether this includes Giralang and Kaleen and
would be interested if this could be clarified (unfortunately Denise Kay's
message in response does not seem to contain any text).
I'd also be interested if the Satin Bowerbird has been recorded in
Gungahlin.
I'm happy to take responses directly to me only.

Subject: New bird in garden
Good morning all,
I was rather surprised to see a "green" Satin Bowerbird in my Kaleen
garden this morning at about 10:00. It was feeding on the ground in an
area where I throw a few food scraps and a bit of seed to keep the local
Crested Pigeons interested. This is the first time in over 40 years
living here that I have recorded the species locally but I think that
Denise Kay has had them in her Giralang garden. I don't know if they
have been recorded in the Gungahlin area yet.
