Hi all
Juvenile Brown Goshawk at the north edge of the Botanic Gardens was very visible this morning, perched on a branch of the nest tree, and calling. One of the parents was nearby, and I must have hung around for too long, as he swooped me
three times. I accepted the first as a warning but thought the second and third low pass were unnecessary as I was retreating up the hill by then. The yellow eyes get fiercer as they get closer!
I say ‘he’, by the way, simply on size: the adult was considerably smaller than the juvenile, even allowing for the young one being a little fluffier.
Happy Christmas to all!
