The majority of the Mt Majura Woodland surveys were conducted during the second week of December, with a couple of sites done the week prior in the rain. A good collection of birds seen with a couple of first sightings for the surveys,
including a Red-capped Robin and 3 Yellow Thornbills spotted by Duncan McCaskill. A number of Olive backed Orioles were seen at 3 sites, possibly a couple of family groups with immatures, and an unusually large number of Australian Ravens at 4 sites. One Fantail
Cuckoo was heard and Speckled Warblers continue in good numbers at their usual sites. A Yellow-rumped Thornbill was seen nest building in the leaves of a low hanging eucalypt and a pair of Noisy Friarbirds were tending to a nest. Rainbow Lorikeets were recorded
at 2 sites, confirming their recent spread to the North Canberra area.
