Hi All,

This Saturday 25th November is our next date for the National Snipe survey. Instructions are the same as the others (below) and eBird is the preferred reporting method, although as always, I am happy with anything that works for you (even on the back of a scrumpled up piece of paper).

Instructions:

Thoroughly survey your area by walking close to the water’s edge (as possible) to flush Snipe. Record all Snipe sighted. Please also record the following:

  • Distance travelled
  • Weather – temp, wind, rain, cloud cover
  • Available Snipe habitat eg. water levels, vegetation, mud
  • Time that survey is undertaken
  • Observer name(s)

We are getting some good numbers this year, both here in Canberra and in Port Fairy as well. I will put a general update about the project on the bird chatline.

Thanks once again for your efforts.

Cheers Lori
