We’ve had one calling here at Harold’s Cross the last few days, and yesterday a Channel-billed Cuckoo was calling in the early morning.

One has just called for several minutes at our house.  Of course it stopped calling as soon as I thought of picking up the camera to immortalise it!

Following on from my recent note about the number of species seen in GBS year-to-date this has got my total to 71 for year 37 which is the equal highest of any of the 11 years I have been surveying here.  So despite the very dry Winter and blackened state of the area the birds are doing OK!
