A gang of c. 15 g-gangs @ the back door this morn, many with only c.1/2 mature plumage.

A recall a posting a while back I think re magpies dunking their food as a prep to eating.

Well fr my gd old bedroom `hide’ today I witnessed Walter our smartest male magpie doing just this: I’d given him some chips of hard fat cut from the chops (for tonight’s stew); he carried an obdurate one to the water bowl, dunked it, then flew down to the grass where he thrashed it from side to side before eating.
