I am not sure what would be meant by "Isn't this a bit early for owlet
nightjars?" That might be a comment to apply to a summer migrant, but this
species is a resident here. Or do you mean early in the morning? The
location sounds like where I was directed by one of the staff as to an owlet
nightjar about 3 weeks ago.

My son and a friend were at the ANBG this morning and they saw an owlet
nightjar, up higher than the rain forest gully on the northern side. A
person was photographing it. Isn't this a bit early for owlet nightjars?
Unfortunately I cannot walk up that hill to look at it. Maybe the ones at
CP are peeping out of their nest
