Hi All,

A massive thank you for agreeing to help with this year’s Snipe surveys. The response has been overwhelming as always. Our first survey date is coming up on the 23rd of September.

Instructions are as follows….

Thoroughly survey your area by walking close to the water’s edge (as possible) to flush Snipe. Record all Snipe sighted. Please also record the following:

  • Distance travelled
  • Weather – temp, wind, rain, cloud cover
  • Available Snipe habitat eg. water levels, vegetation, mud
  • Time that survey is undertaken
  • Observer name(s)

It would be great if you could use eBird to report your sightings, as it makes things very much easier at my end. If you haven’t already, the first step is to create an eBird account. Then simply submit your observations reporting all the species you observed. Finally share that checklist with Snipe Survey.

However, feel free to email me if it is easier for you as I am very happy that you are helping.

Thanks a lot and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Cheers Lori
