During my regular survey of the NW end of Cooleman Ridge this morning, I observed at least 40 Yellow-faced Honeyeaters migrating above tree top height in a similar fashion as is more noticeable in autumn, except they were heading in an ESE direction along
the SW side of the Ridge.
Red Wattlebirds were also common, with at one time around 10 seen heading off towards the Cotter. Apart from around 4 Grey Fantails these were the only partial migrants observed, with no full spring/summer migrants recorded.
It’s been a very slow return of many migrant species so far, but my local patch often seems to be the last spot they go to, particularly on Cooleman Ridge.
