Canberra Nature Map's sister site the Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness is running a free bioblitz in Merimbula this coming Saturday, which may be of interest to members. There are many surveys led by experts running throughout the day, including bird surveys and a spider survey led by Stuart Harris. I attended last year's bioblitz which was a great event.
If you are interested, the details are below, and details on each of the various surveys and registration is on the Eventbrite link

Dear friends, Firstly my apologies if you have received this info previously. In the flurry of organising just trying to maximise exposure!
This is a reminder that you are invited to join us for the“From Little Things Grow” 2017 Atlas of Life BioBlitz.
Spring has just sprung and this seems a great time to get together and explore another area of our beautiful Coastal Wilderness. We are encouraging everyone to try the NatureMapr  platform and encourage more people to begin recording the wildlife around us. Have a look at
Eventbrite to book your survey places.

This year the Atlas is partnering with the “From Little Things Parklands” project which is establishing a sustainability centre right in the middle of Merimbula , next to Merimbula Creek. They need a baseline species list before they start their extensive plantings to increase the biodiversity of the area. What we have discovered is that along Merimbula Creek, both upstream and down towards Back lLagoon, there are really lovely walks and habitats to explore, so we know the BioBlitz will show everyone a new aspect of our place.

On SATURDAY the family friendly, free and fun BioBlitz will run from early morning - 8:00am for the first bird survey to 4:00pm and you will be most welcome to take part and enjoy this hidden and interesting area of Merimbula. Basecamp will be in the m("-36.886089,149.9113043,17.19z/data","Hall/");="" class="yiv161733703"> Merimbula Scout Hall off Main Street, Merimbula and we will be helping participants use NatureMapr  and ID their sightings. There will also be aa  lot of interesting things to see and do at Basecamp, with Microeye microscope and Museum in a Box and much more…. We are also suggesting people may also like to survey from their kayaks as the Creek and Back lagoon are very pleasant waterways.

We look forward to seeing you……
 Libby and the Atlas Team
