I'll put my hand up and agree with you.  Apart from anything else, Looking at the maps in The Australian Bird Guide I can't see anything else in the area that could be confused with it.  But like you I'm not an expert on the fauna of this area.  (OK, the words "on the fauna of this area" are redundant.)

Location: -28.870771, 114.653942 i.e. 11 km south of Geraldton, WA.

Although the image is poor, I am inclining towards it being a Singing Honeyeater: fairly heavy, curved, dark bill; probably a wide dark line through eye and continuing well past it; paler (yellowish?) plumage below that line; greyish, streaked breast.

But I am no expert on WA birds, and am happy to be corrected!
