Forwarded with my graphic deleted. When I looked for the rings to cut them they’d gone to another bower. (There’s a few around)

I have been a long time illicit supplier of blue tops to Bower Birds.
What I have done for a number of years is cut the rings for safety and also the tops for ability of the bird to carry them away.

Is that a genetic strategy to prevent plastic rings getting stuck around the lower throat?
