Thanks to those volunteers participating in the May surveys - we are hoping you are keen to participate again for the August 2017 Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater survey weekend which are coming up this weekend on August 5th & 6th.

With good numbers of swift parrots being recorded in the Riverina, including a number of birds with radio-tracking tags on them, it is a great year to head out west and explore some of our gorgeous Box Ironbark woodlands while the flowering and birding is particularly rewarding.

The aim of these long-term surveys is to determine the distribution, habitat use and population trends of the Critically Endangered Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater. This information is used to help better manage the habitat for both species and identify important foraging areas.

If you would like to join the surveys, let me know and I can send you a copy of the survey form and can also provide suggestions on where to go. If you have a site already in mind, great just let me know where so we can avoid any double up. I am happy to let you know which sites still need to be covered.

Kind regards
Debbie
