On a drive Bungendore-Hoskinstown yesterday I came across a group of Gang-gangs (4) feeding on the abundant ripe hawthorn fruit. This is not an unusual sight in that area. The bird takes about one second to extract each seed in a rapid and rhythmic process.  The fragments on the mandibles and feet are probably the seed casing.   I am not sure but I think the audible click is the mandibles making contact as the casing is split off.
