Unquestionably this morning’s Lake Road ducks were in stationary mode at 9am, dozing along the bund with a few on the small island.  The exception were 2 pairs of upending PBDs and 2 pairs of shovelers that, by contrast, were feeding very actively.  There could have been 50 or more Freckled, at least 2 with some red bill colour and at least one brownish young bird.  A few dotterels - one Red-knee, and a few Black-fronts.  The coots were quite mobile, at one point spreading out to graze on the domain of that one lonely horse.   The ducks had not moved significantly by 1130 when I returned  after a visit to Trucking Yard Lane and to the Bungendore bakery, where I collected a steak and kidney pie for an early lunch.
