Hi all,
The answers to the Australia Day “quiz” are as follows – in the right hand photo:-Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is also in PNG and Indonesia (West Papua); Wedge-tailed Eagle PNG and Indonesia (West Papua); Oriental
Dollarbird PNG, Indonesia and in some parts of South-east Asia; Willie Wagtail in PNG and parts of Melanesia and now called Willie “Fantail” in Indonesia, and standing on Ned’s head is an “Australian” Magpie, also found in PNG and Indonesia (West Papua).
I am not sure why Geoffrey has put up the Mistletoebird discussing the president of the Philippines as the species doesn’t occur there going by the sources I have checked. Any comment Geoffrey?
As I have said this has all been done very tongue in cheek and as a bit of fun. Thanks to those who had a go! Again thanks to Geoffrey Dabb for letting me use his images without permission!!
Cheers,
Mark

All done in good spirit and somewhat tongue in cheek. I will give the answers later this afternoon. Geoffrey, thanks for allowing me to “borrow” your photos.
Cheers all,
Mark

Geez Mark. You run a tighter border control than I do.
I guess the SCC and the WTE both escape north. If the bottom RH corner bird is a flycatcher (?), then it also needs to be rounded up for visiting northern shores. Those plus the $bird.
But the $bird is a recidivist and so I single it out.

Oh dear Geoffrey, there are at least four species in your main photo that are not dinky di Aussies, plus of course Ned’s mate. I suppose they could have gone down to Lake Burley Griffin this morning to meet
the GG, the PM and the VC winner to become fully fledged Aussie citizens!
Anyone care to try and list them?
Mark
