Bird enthusiasts will have noticed this sprummer morphing into a feast for insectivorous birds.
Silvereyes, accompanied at times by Superb Fairy Wrens and Thornbills have enjoyed the millions of tiny 'fruit flies' that have been around our Flynn garden in recent weeks.
Brian Lessard will be the Field Naturalists' guest speaker on Thursday March 2nd
and his topic will be the importance of flies.
Before that however and on Thursday 2nd February Suzi Bond will speak about her new Field Guide and the process by which it came into being late last year.
Suzi Bond will be providing an overview of the butterflies of the ACT, including what sorts of species occur here, what their distribution is, and how our knowledge of butterflies in the ACT has changed over time. She will also
focus on what has been happening with the current butterfly season, with the Australian Painted Lady dominating so far, and what butterflies to look out for during the rest of the season. She will be happy to sign copies of her new Field Guide to the Butterflies
of the ACT at the meeting.
The Field Naturalists meet in Building 116 off Daley Road, ANU. We meet at 7.30pm with a member being present to allow entry from about 7.15.
All welcome. There's no charge though we do have an informal, optional Raffle with prizes featuring pre-loved books, bric-a-brac, re-gift-able gifts and sometimes home produce.
