Yoyettas dark are in my house

Rather small and black

Not there when taking out the dog -

But there when I got back.

I think they like the Christmas lights

That flash bright on our porch,

But if they touch our mozzie light

They’ll feel a bit of scorch!

I’m not sure how they get inside,

They never sound the chimes.

I think they like to hide within

Our morning Canberra Times

Another candidate would be one of the Yoyettas (http://dr-pop.net/yoyetta.htm), which are also small and black.

I found a Yoyetta in my house in Curtin last night, but cannot work out the species - apparently there are at least six in Canberra, including undescribed species and one that is restricted to the ACT, all very similar!

There are excellent recordings of the calls on the dr-pop site.

Brian
