Curiously at my home in Kambah, so far this year, I have only noticed an occasional one, apart from only one time (last week) of 2 within hearing range simultaneously. This is far less than other recent years.

This year during the past week the calls of Koels are more persistent and noticeable than in previous years. I have heard birds in both the eastern and western sides of Duffy.
