We can go a bit further than
bird sp and say, by the arrangement of its toes, that it is a passerine. And further narrow it down to a passerine that
occurs around Carwoola at this time of year.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Collared Sparrowhawk
I finally managed to track one of the accipiters at our place this afternoon and on my assessment of comparatives it ticked all the boxes for a female Collared Sparrowhawk. I have put a few photos
of it on my blog.
However I wonder if anyone would care to venture an opinion on the ID of the prey visible in this image .
I am prepared to go as far as bird sp.
