It looks much more like a Little Friarbird to me. They are uncommon in Canberra but do occur. It appears to have a bald face but not top of head, it doesn’t have the scalloped feather pattern of a juvenile Noisy Friarbird. A juvenile Noisy Friarbird this early in the year here is early but apparently not unprecedented and it appears to have worn feathers, not those of a new young bird.

Hi All,

 

Someone has suggested that my Little Friarbird may actually be a juvenile Noisy Friarbird. (Certainly not the first time I would have been wrong!)

 

I was confident in my ID, but now am not sure. A second photo is attached.

 

Confirmation either way would be appreciated.
