The Frogmouth chicks have finally left the nest. The process of departure was rather unusual this year compared to past years and is summarised in
this blogpost. A key point is that the chicks were some 6 days later than I expected in leaving. Even if my interpretation of the date of their hatching was a bit out the time
from the start of brooding to an empty nest was at least 5 days longer than I have recorded in the past.
At least this year - unlike 2015 - they have stayed around. Here is an image of the situation this afternoon.
