I have regularly surveyed Lake Tuggeranong over the past five years, generally about once a month.  The number of coots has always been around 150-200, on the side of the lake closest to the town centre.  The last survey, about a month ago was the first time we recorded none.

We had many earlier reports that Coots had m.o.l. completely disappeared from several of the smaller lakes and ponds (e.g. Yerrabi, West Belconnen etc.) in Canberra.

Could anyone who visits more regularly Lakes Burley Griffin and Ginninderra tell me please whether the same holds true for those lakes (I am certain it does, but would like confirmation).

Please just email me privately.

Many thanks,

Michael Lenz
