Should it be of interest to anyone, there has been no shortage of House
Sparrows at Strathnairn Homestead Gallery, Holt for decades. (This is about 2.5
kms from Chris Davey's place & the records he's just mentioned).
There are chooks at the property. The Sparrows are slight enough to have
constant access to the chook-house and its grains. There are also raptors and
Brown & Red-Bellied Black snakes around the property.
There are also Starlings feeding young and I'm beginning to think that the
Indian Myna population has increased since the building works for the
GInninderry project began in late September.
On the credit side there were about 25 Rainbow Bee-eaters hawking over one of
the Strathnairn dams for an hour or two when the flocks returned for their ACT
region summer.
