Wayne, I expect the main reason they’re not here at the moment is because all the rain inland to mid October means the conditions there are ideal and thus no need to come to the ACT and surroundings, where they’re in peak numbers during dry years inland.
However, with things rapidly drying out in the recent strong winds (from floods to bushfires within in a month!), a few still may reach here before their breeding season is over.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Rufuous Songlarks?
My bike ride yesterday out along Urriarra Rd yielded very few birds at all and no sign of Rufuous Songlarks. This is a stretch where I normally hear them in recent years. I was wondering if anyone has come across them yet?
