Rangers didn't even get around to putting up the warning signs along a usual swooping cycleway nearby before the young birds fledged and moved on a week ago.

The magpie swooping season is here with a vengeance and I have seen some unusual activity
Old Canberra residents like myself always understood that the swooping season began around early September and finished around mid October. This year I was aggressively swooped by a magpie in late July, the same magpie swooped me on Sunday (2 October).  Has global warming disoriented him?
Also, when I was riding my bicycle in Tuggeranong I was attacked by two magpies, they hit my bike helmet in rapid succession like dive bombers attacking Pearl Harbour. I have heard of cooperative breeding but not cooperative attacks like this.
Any thoughts from our magpie specialists?
