A pair of Collared Sparrowhawks has ben frequenting the pines on the corner of Fitzgerald and Hopetoun, Yarralumla for some days. I presume it's the same pair that bred last summer, in the same pines. Their sustained chattering calls are audible at a distance. Obviously it's much too early for breeding, but this now seems to be part of their territory. I haven't previously observed them so persistently in the winter.
