Hi Ryu,

I don’t know what “GS” is but I think the bird is a Collared Sparrowhawk, though not much of what is diagnostic shows. It is rather slim build, the eye ridge is small and the beak is small. The tail doesn’t suggest a CS but doesn’t prove a BG either and the feathers are very worn. The interesting thing is the white spots on the wing. None of the books mention the white spots, that I have seen and I don’t know why, but all photos I have seen of either CS or BG that have these, are CS.

A good morning out at Jerra.

Highlights were:

1 Spotless Crake (Cygnus Hide)

4 Brown Quail (Boardwalk)

a few Dusky Woodswallows (Kelly's)

56 Pink-eared Ducks doing their big vortex. A few shovelers seemed to be joining in.

3 Raptors: BS Kite, Little Eagle, and CS/GS. I have attached a picture of the latter for advice on which it might be.

On a side note, there was also a Spotless Crake at Fadden Hills Pond yesterday. No sign of the Rose Robin though.
