We conducted the Mt Majura Surveys over the weekend. Today was a very cold start with our first serious frost for the year and overnight temps of -2 degrees. We had 38 species overall. Some quite different things seen in some sites, with
Starlings making a couple of sites; 6 ravens in one site possibly eating the remains of a rabbit, Gang Gangs in a number of sites (which we don’t recall having too often) and a couple of sites had Grey Currawongs, also not common in a survey. Only one site
had a mixed flock of small birds and we picked up the usual with Speckled Warbler, Scarlet Robin, Striated, Brown and Buff Rumped Thornbills. But on the whole we thought the birds seemed pretty quiet.
