This feeds into the question of is it of value to contribute records that
are consistent with the known pattern of the usual or should we only
contribute records that are unusual in time and place. Both mindsets if
carried to the extreme will and do create biases in the data, one that
removes the slightly unusual and thus highlights what we think we already
know, the other that emphasises the unusual and dilutes the record holding
information of the typical. Fortunately with many people putting in data,
each with their own inherent biases, the answer of just one person gets
diluted. I suggest this observation is reasonably unexpected but not
unprecedented. The best method is to submit it to COG records but of course
so as to not bias the data by this choice, submit it with the full list of
everything else observed on this event and to do so probably only if you
would also submit the record if it happened in summer. Not that I am fully
well behaved in this aspect either.

Were the Pink-eared Ducks really calling a lot whilst feeding? I know them
to call in flight but not much whilst feeding.

Just wondering if approx 20 Dusky Woodswallows at Jerrabomberra is worth
reporting to Eremaea Birdlines, based on the time of year?

Other highlights this morning were the Intermediate Egret that seems to be
becoming a regular, and the recently reported large flock (at least 90) of
Pink-eared Ducks foraging vociferously!
