Continuing my search of water bodies above puddle size for a Great Created Grebe I attended the Beard "lookdown" into the large pond of QSTW this morning.  Alas, all grebes were small with a ratio of about 30:6 in favour of Hoary-headed vs Australasian.

The most interesting sighting was a Great Cormorant nest on one of the pontoons.  Looking at the Bird Info page for this species it appears that April is a not-unusual month for such activities but in my numerous visits to this site I have never seen such a nest before.
