At lake George rd on thursday (late morning) many hundreds (if not thousands) of honeyeaters were flying north along the bottom of the escarpment. As far as I could tell all were Yellow Faced except for a single white eared. They were flying low at the
point I stopped – quite an experience to have this constant stream of birds going past just over head high! I had stopped at the little dam (tank) near the northern end of the road thinking that the birds might take a break for a drink but in the 10 minutes
I was there only one honeyeater stopped and went down for a drink. A few more had a brief rest in one of the trees at the dam but the great majority just kept on going.
Interestingly I realised that the continuous stream included the occasional Grey Fantail.
