Great to hear you've seen them in the area before.

I went looking for Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters  along the Queanbeyan River and nearby gullies but no luck today. Plenty of other honeyeaters though.

I have once recorded the species in the Northern tip of Yanununbeyan just off the Woolcara Trail.  It was about 4km in a straight line from the area you describe.  My sighting included a nest with young so I suspect they are well established in this surprisingly unbirded area.  It is of course great to have another sighting in the general area.

I have also found the area  (near the Queanbeyan River) fairly reliable for Yellow-tufted Honeyeater.

Two birds seen today along Spring Creek Trail in Yanununbeyan State Conservation Area not far past the intersection with Woolcara Trail. The coordinates are 35 34' 20" S, 149 22' 01" E.

The birds were in a scrubby gully. One bird showed well when I made squeaking sounds.  The other stayed hidden but was picked up by its call.

Unless I'm mistaken this could be a new location for this species in the COG area of interest.

Also seen, two separate flocks of Diamond Firetails, one numbering around a dozen, along Woolcara Lane.

Cheers
