Australian Ravens
Rosemary,
at this time of year many (all??) A. Ravens roost communally. Pre and post roosting they may appear at places in larger numbers and there they may be very vocal, chase each other etc, and hence become very noticeable. Some of my recent examples include
in mid February 19 ravens early morning on Lyneham Ridge, at least as 'noisy' as a group of Pied Currawongs; in early and mid March 30 (one morning) and 37 (one late afternoon) around Norgrove Park/Kingston Harbour, spending most of their time on house roofs
and especially in the scaffolding and a tall crane at the building sites there.
Have to date not found an actual roosting site, they tend to fly in very late to their final destination.
