Hi Julie ,
Looks like Black faced Cormorant to me which is indeed bigger than little pied.
Beak looking light is just a trick of the light. Paleishness around face is
probably breeding plumage which is streaky when seen perfectly but mostly just
makes them lghter around the face and neck.
That's. My opinion anyway. Used to see them at Bawley point.Cheers

Hi all,
I saw this cormorant in tassie today and was hoping someone could help me with
the id. Initially i thought little pied juvenile but it seemed bigger. The pale
bill made me think pied but i really dont know. Apparently pied is uncommon
here so probably not likely. Could it be a young blackfaced? I've never seen
a pied or black faced ...
